Phoenix is SO close to walking. He pulls up on anything and everything in sight. Other parents have told me the reason he has zero fear or hesitancy, in regards to standing, is because he is so young. He doesn’t even consider he might be pulling up on something unsteady! I didn’t expect to have such an early mover. It’s amazing to witness how determined he is to learn this skill.
Park weather is nearly here to stay, which means Phoenix needed his first pair of shoes!

I gained a total of 35 pounds during my pregnancy with Phoenix. Plus or minus five pounds, I have remained the same weight my entire adult life. So, it was interesting to watch the scale tip higher and higher with each passing month. I continued to wear maternity clothes for the first few weeks after delivery. Loose dresses allowed Phoenix easy nursing access and were gentle over my c-section scar.
There comes a day though when you don’t want to wear maternity clothes anymore! You want to start feeling more yourself.

When I first opened my BUMPstyle Box, I unwrapped it with glee, ferociously unpacking each item. While looking over the clothes, I hesitantly held up this navy blue dress… skepticism all over my face. Jordan saw the dress and confidently stated it was his favorite item from the box.
I assumed (because of how small it looked) it would be far too tight and short for my liking. Well, clothes simply fit my pregnant body differently and some styles I would be uncomfortable wearing before are my preference now. More often than not, I am my own worst fashion critic and will write something off because I don’t think it’ll look good on my body. Add nearly 20 pounds of baby and I don’t know what to think! Thankfully, I have a husband who encourages me to step outside my proverbial fashion box.

I love reading reviews on different monthly clothing subscription boxes on the market, but I never felt compelled to try one for myself. I’ll admit most of the time I wasn’t impressed with the selection and since I live close to several shopping centers, I never felt the need to have someone else shop for me. Well, shopping for maternity clothes is a different ball game!
First off, only a small handful of stores offer maternity options. Within those stores the selection isn’t very large, so you still have to shop around for specific items. If you order online there is the conundrum of paying for shipping and potential returns. It’s hard to gage the quality of the pieces online and I’ve realized that quality does matter when it comes to maternity clothes. I have returned more items in the past five months (due to the pieces not holding up) than I have in years!
So when BUMPstyle Box reached out to me to try their subscription box service, I immediately said yes!

I know some women who are less than thrilled with the prospect of having to purchase maternity clothes, but I have been looking forward to this day for years! When faced with the many facets of infertility, I acknowledged certain dreams of mine (such as wearing maternity clothes) might not become a reality for me. Now that I am here, I want to fully embrace this beautiful season of life which includes new pieces of clothing to celebrate my growing baby.
I first heard of PinkBlush Maternity through my friend Teresa and loved their sexy, playful, and affordable clothes. I am so excited I now have the opportunity to wear them!

I am a member of the Warby Parker affiliate program and this post has affiliate links. My opinions and review are my own. As always thank you for supporting the brands which help my space grow. Love ya’ll.
Glasses and I developed a relationship way back when in 1994. I was eight years old. I didn’t realize at the time what sort of bond would form between us. Now, glasses might as well be considered another appendage. My eyes are no good solo. Once when I lost my glasses white water rafting in Idaho I tried to persevere without them, but that’s a story for another day.

My love for Warby Parker glasses is well-known by now. I have been rocking my Edgeworth pair for about two years and I receive compliments on them almost daily.
Glasses have been a staple in my ensemble since I was seven years old. My eyesight is terrible so they are an everyday necessity for me! The only problem is that paying for quality frames/lenses as an adult usually means parting ways with a good chunk of change. When I first heard about Warby Parker, how I could buy frames and lenses for less than $100 and that the company donates a pair for each purchase, I was hooked. I will admit I have a long way to go before all of my purchases are from ethically responsible companies but I at least feel confident about the purchase of my glasses.
Today, Warby Parker launches their spring 2016 line: We’re Heading to The Circus. It is full of bold colors and three new silhouettes. When Warby Parker asked me to help promote their new line, it came at just the right time. I have been in the market for another pair of glasses to add to my collection. In the past I never would have been able to afford to own multiple pairs at once but, with a $95 price point, it is completely feasible to have a few to mix and match.
I ordered several for their Home-Try On program and will share my options and ultimate winner in different looks coming very soon!
Have you ever ordered glasses from Warby Parker?
Sneaking moments of computer time the last week and half have been interesting. My iPad only gets me so far, but I’m hoping next week I’ll be fully up and running! This week was spent baking pumpkin muffins and sweet potato casserole, cooking the last of the summer eggplant and watching season five of The Great British Bake Off. Have you seen this lovely BBC series? It’s now on Netflix and Jordan and I caught up on the episodes we missed when it aired on PBS! It is the perfect show to watch with your family over the holidays.
In other news I joined snapchat this week. It’s been a while since I’ve experienced such a learning curve! I’m usually comfortable with new technology (I used to code and create websites using geocities in Jr.high!) but the Snapchat interface is a little confusing. I’m still learning but leave your user name and I’ll follow you! You’ll find me under catherine.short.

Before we get into this outfit, I have to give a shout out to Megan. Earlier this month, she did a round-up of 14 Fashion Finds for Fall. One of the pieces mentioned was an a-line suede skirt. I commented about my excitement for a-line skirts coming back in vogue, but was looking for an a-line denim skirt with front buttons.
Well, she went a searching, sent me a link and voilà! I have a new denim skirt! Blogging buddies are the best.

When Jordan came back from London, he arrived bearing gifts. Jordan loves giving presents — it’s one of the ways he expresses love to those close to him. Gift giving is one of the five love languages outlined in the popular book The Five Love Languages. Have you read it? I highly recommend it, not only for relating to your partner, but anyone close to you. It took me awhile to realize that Jordan was a gift giver and a good one at that!
Jordan purchased this Topshop kimono in London. I’ve worn it a few different ways, but this particular look was inspired by our upcoming attendance to Pitchfork Music Festival — which I’ll talk about more next week!
