Phoenix at Eight Months

Phoenix Eight Months Update

Month eight has been all about mastering the skills Phoenix learned in month seven. Not only does he crawl and pull himself up on all surfaces, he squats and tries to stand on his own! He is so coordinated! Phoenix learned one new exciting skill this month — clapping! It is so adorable.

It’s fun watching Phoenix’s personality become more pronounced. I was watching Zabrena’s SnapChat where she casually mentioned how her baby is patient. It made me laugh because Phoenix is not patient, just like me. When he is hungry or tired or needs a change of scenery he lets you know. Otherwise, he is joyful, curious and loves to smile at everyone.

Last month (after a sleep regression), I mentioned we were working on nap training again. Besides when Phoenix and I both had a stuffy nose, he continues to take two naps a day. His regular nighttime pattern is to wake up once to eat instead of twice. We didn’t do anything differently, but one day I realized he only woke up once and than it kept happening. Phoenix did slept through the night for the first time, but I’m actually fine with him still waking up. It helps with my milk supply.

Phoenix still nurses on demand throughout the day. His new favorite thing to eat is bread. He eats purees in the morning and before bed, but I started to give him bread around lunch time. He’ll chow down on it for a good fifteen minutes! It’s the perfect distraction when I’m trying to clean the kitchen.

Phoenix and I leave for a road trip this coming weekend. Long car rides are not his favorite, but he’ll have a blast once we arrive at our destination.

  1. He is so cute and so strong!! It sounds like he is in a really great rhythm with sleep. I laughed out loud at the patience thing — Selah has pretty much no patience and no problem letting me know about it!

  2. I have three kids (three and under) and not a single one is patient! haha I didn’t know there was such a child! Phoenix is just adorable!

  3. You two are the cutesttttt. And I’ve wondered about doing a longer driving trip with Aiden because he’s generally fine/tolerates it, but the longest we’ve done is 2 hours and that trip was during naptime so it was fine because he slept. Keep us posted with how it all goes!!!

  4. He’s the cutest little tot! I love these photos of you and him together– so cute! I can’t believe he’s already 8 months. I swear you were just pregnant yesterday!

  5. So so cute! I swear, each stage is my favorite. Love his outfit too! My daughter always had a good time in the car. She would usually fall asleep! Now she stays awake more and just reads or talks to herself or dances to the toddler CD I have in. It’s so cute.

  6. I think one of the coolest things about having a child would be watching their personality develop.
He is seriously THE most precious little boy!

  7. I love his facial expressions! And he’ll be walking before you know it. I learned from my friend visiting that once it starts it takes off fast! He went from wobbling around with a hand a couple of weeks ago to full on roaming our house by himself. We couldn’t keep him out of anything.
