trick or treat newborn

^ My hero in a half-shell before he had an epic trick or treat meltdown. He was upset he couldn’t eat the candy. 😉

Hey! I’ve been a little MIA lately, but for an exciting reason. Jordan and I closed on our first home early Friday morning! We’re also still without internet, BUT it should be hooked up this morning. Fingers crossed. I’ll share more about the process and pictures in Friday’s Weekend Links post.

In other news, today, I’m co-hosting my favorite monthly link-up with Anne — her currently series! Let’s take a look into November.

currently november

Discovering | Phoenix’s likes and dislikes. He’s a quirky dude and everyday we discover more about him. So far he shares a lot of similarities with Jordan. For instance, Phoenix hates sitting in a dirty diaper which is how Jordan was as a baby.

Celebrating | The purchase of our first home! I still can’t believe we own a home. We’ve never lived with this much space, let alone two stories. Jordan and I are most excited about having better hosting arrangements. We really hated that our friends and family couldn’t stay with us.

Starting | My maternity leave ends next week. I feel so fortunate I was able to take off three months, though it still doesn’t feel like enough time. Jordan’s mom flies in tomorrow and my parent’s arrive next week. Having extra hands to unpack and watch Phoenix during my first week back will be so helpful.

Wearing | My new Levi jeans everyday. Thankfully, Phoenix doesn’t spit up often but when I’m home I replace the jeans with joggers.

Googling | I’m your typical first time mom who Googles everything from sleep tips to the best baby gear to how many poops a 3 month old should have in a week. HAHA. Seriously, what did parents do before Google?

Don’t forget to link-up with what you are currently up to in November!

  1. I saw your snaps where you were packing up and leaving your apartment, I just didn’t know if you guys were moving to a new one or what. Congrats on the house! That is far more exciting that just another apartment 😉

  2. Googling is the worst for new parents- way too much information to freak out over! I had my second last January so this time around am just relying on what I already know, which may or may not be a good thing!

Good luck with the end of maternity leave- the transition is hard, but it does get easier. There are some good parts too like being able to be an adult for a few hours a day & doing things like going to the bathroom when you need to 🙂 I tried to focus on that part of it, but it was hard. You get into a new routine though and it gets easier to leave them so hang in there!

  3. Oh yay! I love this linkup! I have seen other bloggers write Currently posts, but had no idea where to link up. I will be writing my own post shortly. 🙂 Also, congrats on closing on your home! How exciting!

  4. Congratulations on your new house! That is SO exciting! Levi Jeans and Google are life, haha! I often have wondered what life was like before Google and Pinterest and am scared to even imagine it.

I can’t wait to see pictures of your new house and hear about what a blessing it is for you and your sweet little family!

  5. Congratulations on your new home!! Please post pictures soon! And I’m cracking up over your Googling paragraph. I would LOVE to see a history of my Google searches over the past year. Insert crying-laughing emoji here.

  6. Ha, starting in early on the “I want candy” tears! Last year I remember having to say to Hendrik multiple times that “there’s no crying in Halloween!!”

So exciting about the house! Getting settled in a new place is always fun for me, but even better when it’s really your own.

  7. There is nothing like a new house! But a baby quickly uses up more space then you every thought possible! We moved into our house about 10 months before our daughter was born and the house seemed huge. 3 years later, as she’s now decided she’s “a big girl” and we’ve stored away the high chair, the stroller, etc. etc., it finally feels like we have space again (for another couple weeks until baby #2 takes over the whole house!). Happy Moving!

  8. Thanks for co-hosting Currently this month, and congratulations on your new house! Wonderful! Before Google it was dog-eared copies of “What to Expect the First Year” and phone calls to friends and moms! And there was no Pinterest, so we didn’t know we were slacker moms throwing sad, little parties without crazy cute party favors for our kids! LOL!

  9. CONGRATS ON THE HOUSE! it’s cool that you see it as an opportunity to serve other people by hosting them. 🙂 side note – i’d be crying because i couldn’t have candy, too. ;D

  10. Ahh being a homeowner seems like such a thrilling milestone in your family! So, congrats! Having more space to grow and hosting your friends and family is a huge plus. And transitioning back to work, I’m sure, was a difficult choice to make so I’m praying for you guys and hope that it’s an easy change.
