Weekend Links / / Shower Time

When Jordan and I were in California we spent a few days visiting our dear friends Kate and Erick. One of the days, while exploring the Golden Gate Bridge, Kate took a few impromptu photos of us. You might remember the photos Kate took of us last summer. It’s amazing to look back at those photos because we were completely unaware they’d be the last photos taken before getting pregnant. I’ll share more photos from this day in the coming weeks.

In other news…tomorrow is our baby shower in Chicago. It’s a little hard to believe we have arrived to this point. I feel extremely blessed and excited to celebrate Baby Yoshi with our friends and family.

Onto the links!

Lin-Manuel Miranda on Parenting / / “Be There. But Not Too There.”
If you are a parent or plan to be a parent I recommend reading this article. Guess what? Miranda’s parents let him watch (a lot) of television and now he’s written possibly the most successful Broadway musical of all time. Shout out to Marla for sharing this article last week.

The People V. O.J. Simpson / / This past week Jordan and I watched FX’s miniseries on O.J. Simpson’s murder trial. I remember seeing previews when it initially released but honestly it sounded cheesy. Well, I was wrong. It is extremely well done and compelling throughout.

On the Emotions of Moving (Again) / / Linda and her husband Tyler are currently living a nomadic life. While traveling full-time may seem picturesque it comes with its own set of challenges. I appreciate Linda’s honesty.

Greek Yogurt Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes / / I rarely eat pancakes for breakfast since once I’m up I need to eat something quickly. Instead, I prefer making big breakfast meals for dinner. These pancakes sound delicious and I need to use up my stash of poppy seeds anyway.

For Stressed-Out Skin / / My skin, during my pregnancy, was going along swimmingly until I came back from California. I know the change in climate and air travel had a lot to do with the slew of breakouts but I bet if I was a bit more prepared coming home I could have avoided stressing my skin out.

Jordan and I are on the latest episode of the Vernacular Podcast talking about marriage and how to name a baby. We are open to suggestions!

Happy Weekend, all!
