Weekend Links / / Pregnancy Brain

Twenty Two Week Bump Photo

The thing about pregnancy brain is you don’t realize you have it until it’s too late. I want to return an item at a clothing store only to arrive and realize I didn’t bring the item with me to return. Or I begin making dinner and discover I forgot to purchase the main ingredient at the grocery store. I take a break from responding to blog comments, grab a snack and while I’m up I’ll put a load of laundry in, open some mail, wipe down the counters etc. and before I know it, I’ve completely forgotten about my initial task!

It’s even more hilarious at work.

If you celebrate Easter I hope you have a relaxing weekend. We’ll be spending Sunday at a friend’s house, maybe even engaging in a little Easter Egg hunt. 😉

Onto the links!

Protein + Banana Pancakes (GF) / / A slightly more amped up (and dare I say decadent) version of the egg + banana pancakes you see floating around on Pinterest.

Six Classically Casual Looks for Spring / / A true Spring in Chicago is rare. It’s not safe to pack away your winter coat until at least the end of April, possibly the first week of May. It snowed on our wedding day, which is April 12th! Nashville on the other hand has a true spring: cool mornings, warm afternoons and light rain showers. I love these easy Spring looks.

My Struggle with Postpartum Depression / / A lot of my blogging peers recently have had babies. Their days are full of squishy baby cuddles, late night feedings and lots of love. I think most go into motherhood expecting it to be hard but not anticipating they will struggle with PPD. I applaud Ashlie for sharing her story. If you are experiencing PPD please reach out for help, you don’t need to feel alone.

Planning a Capsule Skin Care + Make up Routine / / We hear a lot about creating a clothing + shoe capsule wardrobe, but what about skin care and make up? In the last few months I’ve honed in on my skin care products but similarly to Kelsey I need to find a facial sunscreen that doesn’t break me out and sinks into my skin nicely.

How to Whiten Your Teeth Naturally / / Charcoal masks and face wash are nothing new but have you heard about using activated charcoal to whiten your teeth? I plan on ordering from Amazon for Jordan to begin using and once Baby Yoshi is here I’ll give it a try!

Happy Weekend, all!

  1. Those pancakes! And I need to read that skin care and makeup post, more so that I know what to try, and not necessarily so I know what to rid myself of…I’m definitely a minimalist when it comes to those products!

    1. Darcy if you try them i would love to know what you think!
splash in some almond milk and that protein powder and they are SO FLUFFY!
i feel full after one, so i think your husband would love them (my BF makes them all the time!)

    2. Darcy!
If you try them i would love to know what you think!
The protein powder + some almond milk really makes it so fluffy!
I think your husband would love them (my BF makes them daily).

  2. i’m not pregnant – but man i have pregnancy some days 😉

(thanks for the shout-out! try those pancakes and let me know what you think!)
and i love those casual spring looks!
    AND the whitening naturally!

  3. Thanks so much for sharing my story, girl! I don’t think PPD is talked about enough, so I appreciate you including me in this post. Have a great weekend! Look forward to seeing you again soon.

  4. Ooh, so many good links this week! My little guy loves those egg/banana pancakes, and this amped up version would be even better for getting his protein in the mornings. Love the idea of a skin/makeup capsule – I’m so makeup-stupid that I don’t use many products, so I’d love to figure out a small number of really good ones that I know I’m going to use daily. And I also love the idea of a true spring… being back in Michigan I’m going to miss that about Cincinnati a lot.

    Happy weekend, and happy Easter!

    1. I feel your pain. Chicago springs are a joke most of the time. I don’t wear eyeshadow much at all but for some reason I’m having a hard time parting with them.

  5. Pregnancy brain things happen to me all the time and I’m not even pregnant lol. I think it’s just getting focused on something so you don’t forget it – and then you forget the most important part!

  6. Oh yes, prego brain is for REAL. It continues on through the period of time of interrupted sleep as well 🙂 but eventually you get your head back!
Interesting concept, ‘capsuling’ your skin care / makeup! I’ve kind of done that, without meaning to, by eliminating everything with certain ingredients in them. Now I must go read that post!

  7. Oh my goodness! My memory is already terrible; I can’t even imagine when I’m pregnant. Also, I really like the idea of a capsule skin care routine & makeup routine. I definitely need to consider doing this!

  8. Most sunscreen products irritate my skin. So far Osmosis Shade is working well for me. I am interested in trying the teeth whitener. I use a charcoal mask for detoxing my face.
