Weekend Links / / Branching Out

Epice Nashville

It’s becoming a tradition for Jordan and I to try one new restaurant on Sundays. At least on the Sundays I’m off from work. Nashville is bursting with flavor outside of traditional southern fare and while we still eat primarily at home, we don’t want to miss out on the many great offerings available in our city. After a late morning photoshoot last weekend, we were starving and chose to eat at Epice, a Lebanese restaurant in our neighborhood. We hadn’t heard much about the restaurant despite passing it all of the time. I’m glad we took a gamble because our meals did not disappoint! Our neighborhood continues to surprise me.

Nashville is experiencing a legit snow day today. 8+ inches of snow has fallen, covering the streets and creating a beautiful winter wonderland. I hope you are safe and warm wherever you find yourself on this Friday.

Onto the links!

Homemade London Fog Latte / / Earl Grey tea is my absolute favorite. My dad drinks it often but I only recently discovered my deep love for the often misunderstood black tea. Earl Grey pairs really well with milk and vanilla and this homemade variety sounds delicious!

No, I Do Not Need A Kids Menu / / Summer shares some hilarious musings on being only 4’11. I often get mistaken for still being in college but I haven’t been handed crayons at a restaurant since I was a child!

Dressing Downton / / Emily recaps her experience visiting the traveling exhibit of costumes from Downton Abbey. The exhibit will be in Nashville over the summer and I’m looking forward to going. I wasn’t aware but many of the costumes are refashioned from vintage fabric!

13 Nutritious Energy Bars / / Most on these list I had never even heard of!

10 Things To Do in Amsterdam / / Amsterdam has inched its way up my list of must visit cities in recent years. Jordan and I are in the beginning stages of planning a European trip in 2017 and Amsterdam is being considered. It appears to be a great tourist city with its walkability and culture!

Happy Weekend, all!

  1. Summer’s post about a kids menu cracked me up! I’m short too and while I often get mistaken for being younger than I am, it’s been a long time since someone tried to hand me a kids menu and crayons. I wouldn’t have been able to contain the snark.

  2. Thank you for sharing my link! I hope you enjoy the exhibit!

I want to start trying new places with Dan here in Richmond too. I think it would be fun to have one set day each week that we could go out and try something new.

  3. Mm Lebanese food sounds amazing. Some of my favorite. And these links are all so fun! I’d already read Summer’s post and it is so funny– and relatable! Something about being short and baby-faced, I feel her pain 😉 That post on the energy bars was so interesting! I doubt I could get any here, but I religiously check the nutrition facts on all our food to try and get as close to whole and healthy as possible. These look like such great options! I only wish they had included prices within the post… And Amsterdam is such an amazing city. You guys should put it on your list!!

    1. We’ve been getting these bars at Costco recently (sunrise energy). They come in a giant container (not individually packaged) and are just oats, dried fruit, nuts and seeds. I like to slather peanut butter on them but they aren’t great for toting in my bag for emergencies.
