Around These (Short) Parts

Hey. I feel like it’s been a hot minute since I’ve sat down to write. I find it hard to consistently blog in December, so I allowed myself the grace to just not. 😉 Instead, I’ve been reading, working on projects, listening to the second season of Serial, eating far too many cookies, buying Christmas presents and taking an obscene amount of trips to the post office. Oh, and working. I’m looking forward to January when retail holiday season is over and things quiet down.

Have you had a lot of holiday parties to attend? We had a few gatherings and a wedding last week. I do love a good winter wedding, though I’d never risk having one in Chicago where people could potentially get snowed-in! We will not have snow for Christmas in Nashville this year. It will be nearly 70 degrees on Christmas! Jordan, my parents and I are having Christmas dinner at our friend’s house but maybe we should scratch our original idea and grill out! What are you Christmas meal plans? Jordan and I had Christmas alone last year so we went simple with a big brunch/breakfast. It was rather delicious.

On Sunday, Jordan went to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens with friends. Sadly, I had to work. Did you see it yet (#nospoilers)? I think it would be funny if instead of announcing J.J. Abrams as “The director of Star Trek and Super 8” he was announced as “The show creator of Felicity and Alias.” Speaking of cheesy early aught’s television shows, I started re-watching Roswell (a total guilty pleasure!). It’s one of those so-bad-it’s-good shows. One of the stars of Roswell, Sheri Appleby, had a guest spot on HBO’s Girls a few seasons ago and I thought it was really good.

I hope you all have a very merry and bright few days before Christmas!

  1. I really love that scarf. I feel like these last two weeks have been packed full of parties, and I’ve finished my fall semester at college so I’m back home for five weeks (Yay!)
I hope you have a great Christmas!

  2. Great photos!! Love the scarf and the jacket together. Not a lot of holiday parties in these parts but plenty of prep for all the family gatherings took place…I’m ready for the calm of the new year now!
I hosted my parents here with us for Christmas day so we did our traditional big waffle / strawberries / whipped cream breakfast, and I tried my hand at Hasselback potatoes with a ham for dinner…they are crazy buttery but SO good!
Hope you had a wonderful holiday!!

    1. Umm. I think I need to steal your Christmas morning tradition. That sounds delicious! Jordan and I don’t really have our own traditions as every year as almost been a little bit different.
