Trick-or-Treat

Trick or Treating with Kids

This year for Halloween Jordan and I went trick-or-treating with our friends. It was truly a magical evening watching Scarlett and William’s faces light up as they showed off their costumes and gathered candy from house to house. There isn’t much that kids love more than playing dress-up and pretending to be their favorite characters.

The neighborhood we chose to trick or treat in is quite infamous for going all out. I can’t wait to see what they do with Christmas tree lights! Swarms of children and their parents filled the streets, most traveling in groups. I hadn’t experienced a neighborhood quite like this before where the homeowners, instead of waiting for the doorbell, were all sitting on their front porches. One house had a group of guys (most likely roommates) playing live music! I loved how communal the night felt.

I know Halloween is a touchy subject for a lot people, but how many days of the year do you have a chance to mingle with your neighbors?

^Lauren and I were reminiscing about the year we dressed up as Catholic school girls à la Britney Spears. We were about 12. Haha.

  1. Oh my gosh I LOVE these Halloween photos!! They are too cute. I can’t wait for my daughter to really participate next year – she’s only 9 months old, so we dressed her up but she didn’t really get it : )

  2. How fun!! I can’t wait til we have kids and can dress them up in cute costumes. This year we didn’t do any trick-or-treating (even though they do celebrate Halloween the same here in England- weren’t sure if they would) but in the past we have given out candy with our friends the same way you described.. sitting out on the front porch of one of our homes. It was a really fun neighborhood of huge old homes and each one had step leading up to it from the sidewalk. We could see all the groups of kids walking down the street and then trying to maneuver their awkward costumes up the steps. haha There was such a great atmosphere though.. some of my favorite Halloween memories!

  3. What a fun neighborhood! And adorable kiddos. I don’t love Halloween, but Claire sure does. So everything I do is for her. Which makes me love it.
