Family Day + Porter Flea Market

This is one of those photo heavy posts! Are you ready to dive in?

Last Saturday was a perfect day. It had been several weeks since Jordan and I took a full day off together. Our work schedules generally allow for a free morning or afternoon, but rarely a full day without an agenda. #freelancelife

It was so nice.

Jordan and I spent the morning tidying our apartment, photographing a fashion post (I suppose we worked a little šŸ˜‰ ) and reading poolside before my brother and his family arrived into town. Several months ago, we scheduled a lunch date as a nice pit stop for them as they passed through town. We met everyone at our favorite local BBQ joint and after lunch gave them a tour of our (squeaky clean) apartment.

^My skin had a freak out moment a few weeks ago, but it’s recovering!

Once Jason and his clan left town, Jordan and I headed to Porter Flea Summer Market. I had seen posters around town, but I didn’t fully understand what made this flea market so special. Jordan and I are no strangers to flea markets (here, here and here) but Porter only sells products from local artisans: handmade jewelry, clothes, ceramics and housewares.

The courtyard was filled with food trucks and mobile stores, but most vendors lived inside the Track One Building. Jordan and I walked systematically, visiting each table and snatching business cards of vendors we would want to check out later. Our apartment is partly furnished/decorated from flea market and antique store finds. At this stage in life, our visits to markets are not to find a specific piece, but for pleasure. They are still a great place to find gifts!

We ended our evening, like many evenings of late, curled up on the couch eating dinner and watching a few episodes of Friends.

Like I said, a perfect day.

^ Paper & Clay was one of my favorite booths. I love the ombre effect on Brit’s dishwares. Her pieces were simple, but beautiful.  There were many pieces I wanted to snatch up for myself, but instead I left with a gift for a friend.

  1. What a fun event! I love flea markets but, ones with just artists and throw in food trucks – I would totally be there. Thanks for sharing!

Stopping by from The Peony Project.

  2. That does sound like a perfect day! I hear you on the struggle to get whole days with your husband. Dan and I work pretty opposite schedules — he’s a real estate agent, so he’s out with clients most nights and during the weekends, while I work 8:00-5:00. We used to be better about taking whole days off together every few weeks, and we’ve totally let that slip. Thanks for the reminder to do this more!

  3. Your nephew!!! So big now!!! And so cute!!!! Such a doll! And your better than me, I always wanna buy for myself too, those mugs are beautiful!
